Time: 13:30 – 15:00
Location: IOER-Library
Facilitator: Martin Schorcht
Welcome to our introduction to the Data Repository of the IOER! Our Data Repository is based on the software Dataverse
, which is developed by Harvard and will be further developed in the future (for further information see Dataverse Homepage). This makes it easy to publish research data and make it accessible to a broad community. The data is stored long-term and given a DOI so that it can be cited by you and other scientists, for example. Historization is also available so that every version of your data records can be tracked, in order to ensure traceability. More detailed information can be found in the Dataverse Documentaion.
Important
Just to clarify: No articles are published in our Data Repository, only data! So you can publish your articles (scientific or code publications, etc.) for example in an ISI journal and cite your data with DOI under the Data availability statement
.
In this session, the basic functionalities and possibilities of data publication will be explained using a practical example. You can bring your laptop and browse the Data Repository yourself (you will need access to the IOER VPN, e.g. via SecureROM and Cisco AnyConnect). Otherwise you can just watch and follow the live demo and ask questions.
Highlights
- There will be a short introduction to the Data Repository
- It is shown how easily data records and their metadata can be created and how data can be uploaded
- Subsequent editing and thus historization is also explained using an example
- The publication process (upload, validation and publication) is roughly explained

Have a look
If you are curious and would like to take a look at our Data Repository, you are welcome to do so: http://dataverse-test.ioer.de:8080
Important
The site is currently only accessible via the internal network of the IOER (VPN also works). Please pay attention to the http protocol (without 's') when entering the address and also enter the port (:8080)!
